Why should I attend?
Technical professionals increasingly need to translate complex and innovative ideas into action. Imagine if all your findings, analyses, conclusions and recommendations were well documented and communicated, you’d save time and effort by making your management’s decision-making processes more efficient. The emphasis is on writing clear, technically accurate, and presenting reports that makes sense to your non-technical colleagues.
But if getting your ideas across is a challenge for you, this is certainly a course you’ll benefit from.
Attend this course to develop effective techniques in technical writing and increase your confidence and your presentation that will enable you to track your organisation's project cash flow and profitability effectively. You will:
- Understand how technical reports should be planned and structured by applying basic mind-mapping tools to translate ideas to effective written documents
- Use clear & powerful language to target and persuade readers for positive results
- Write and turn-around technical documents quickly to meet deadlines and productivity goals
- Use tried and tested techniques to check and review documents more effectively
- Identify and avoid common pitfalls in technical report writing
- Present and sell your technical presentation more effectively
Who will I meet and who is speaking?
In addition to conducting training in Technical Writing, Steve Holloway has been the chief editor for two large writing projects. The first was the entire Start-Up Manual (including the Black Start Manual) for Nippon Oil’s Helang Integrated Platform, which came online off Sarawak in 2004. Steve was involved in rewriting the manuals for the Puteri Dulang FSO off Terengganu.
Prior to this, Steve was with the British Council, Kuala Lumpur in 1997 where he managed the Business Skills Unit and was involved in all training-related matters. In 1999, Steve set up an independent consultancy marrying the quality of the British Council with the customer oriented focus of a private company. Steve still considers himself a trainer first and specialises predominantly in high-level writing and technical report writing programmes.
Steve has conducted programmes for all of the following organisations:
MIMOS • BP Chemicals • Malaysian-Thailand Joint Authority • NEC• Petronas • Pfizer • ESSO • SIRIM • Wilh. Wilhelmsen • UNITEN
