Pre-Conference Workshop: 28th January 2008

14.00 – 17.30 Exclusive Workshop: Assessing The Skills, Relationships, Behaviours And Commitment Required To Make Partnering A Success

Successful partnering relationships depend upon a range of factors, some procedural in nature, others relating to the “working together” elements. Success is based upon having all these elements correct and ensuring that every stakeholder is involved and understands the needs and motives of their counterparts.

This workshop will focus upon this element of working together, demonstrating how, with the correct approach and an understanding of previous successes and challenges overcome, disputes and distrust can be avoided and all parties can be assured of long-term project fulfilment.

Given the challenging nature of continuing policies such as Through Life Capability Management and the arrival of the Defence Industrial Strategy Version 2, the need to ensure that relationships and leadership skills are at their best has never been higher.

Key topics include:

Evaluating

  • Assessing the readiness for partnering on both sides
  • Identifying cultural and behavioural change issues and requirements
  • How to measure maturity as an ongoing process
  • Building commitment to achieving mutually identified objectives

Aligning perspectives

  • Understanding the personal, cultural, professional and organisational factors contributing to a business relationship
  • Examining how different perspectives can be understood and aligned
  • Finding the right people to develop a partnering arrangement
  • Building the skills required to ensure success
  • The different roles and needs of leaders, managers and the ‘shop floor’
  • Models for building effective partnering relationships
  • Incentivising and rewarding good partnering behaviours
  • Methods to establish continuous improvement and to habituate a partnering culture
