You had the right speakers with the right background. This has been a superbly informative and thought provoking event that enabled me to make valuable contacts and expand my understanding of CID.
Lt Col Peter Nielsen, Canadian Forces
A very useful conference with views from all quarters.
Patrick Griffin, BAE Land System

"Fratricide is the employment of friendly weapons and munitions with the intent to kill the enemy or destroy his equipment, or facilities, which result in unforeseen and unintentional death or injury to friendly personnel.”
- US Army TRADOC Fratricide Action Plan
Coalition nations must work together to avoid suffering from fratricide incidents, and with continuously changing battlefield environments, rapid evolution of war fighting concepts, tactics and new coalition partners joining the fold, locating and recognizing your own forces to reduce fratricide has never been more vital, or as difficult.
The prevention of fratricide is a high priority. However, the ability to manoeuvre without restraint and engage targets is one of the most important capabilities that a well designed and integrated Combat ID system can facilitate. But the balance has to be struck between technology and training, and with limited resources, the military must very often attempt to do the best with what it has.
Who will attend Combat ID 2008?
Taking place in London, January 30th-31st, Defence IQ’s Combat Identification delivers a host of case studies and strategy updates to keep you abreast of your international counterparts’ activities and use of CID technology and training for use in theatre. The event brings together the leading individuals from military and civilian Combat ID programmes, the key innovators from industry and the most respected academics in the field to analyse and discuss latest developments, challenges and opportunities that have emerged in this area over the last 12 months.
Speakers include:
- Brigadier General Elia Baldazzi, Assistant Director, Capabilities, Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC)
- Colonel Alan Mosher, TRADOC Capability Manager, Platform Battle Command and Combat ID, US Army
- Colonel Ulf Johansson, Chief of Staff, Joint Capability Development and Experimentation Centre, Swedish Armed Forces
