IED/EFP’s have claimed roughly 4000 lives since the beginning of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. With a rough estimate of about 3000 IED attacks per month, these weapons have come to highlight the face of on going operations in south west Asia. In order to defeat this threat, recognizing and understanding how it has developed and where it can further develop is key. The Counter IED/EFP Summit will focus on understanding the means by which they used, the method of their construction, the types of damage they cause and thus ultimately the manner in which to defeat and defend against them.

Counter IED and EFP Summit will incorporate views and presentations from the various services, counter IED/EFP organizations and units like JIEDDO, CIED Tech, EOD, DHS and VA State explosives experts.
